Fried peanuts or ‘mani’ is such a common Pinoy finger food that you can find it everywhere. At the grocery, public streets, sari-sari stores, ‘mani’ is already such a common product. So, is it still a lucrative product to sell?
According to Josie Cenidoza of Bong & Josie Food Manufacturing, yes, it is! With the right strategy and marketing, the humble peanuts can still go big.
From their capital of P500, the entrepreneurs can earn as much as P30,000 to P40,000 weekly. They can even go as high as P90,000 when they have promotions online.
“Kapag may mga online campaigns po, nakakaabot kami ng P90,000 sa isang araw,” Josie shared on GMA’s Pera Paraan.
Before they ventured into business, Bong used to be an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) while Josie was an employee at a telecommunications company.
In 2017, the couple decided to let go of their jobs to focus more on the peanut business they got from Bong’s parents. At that time, their business was doing well and it became their source of income.
Unfortunately, the pandemic came and their business was forced to close down.
Josie recalled, “Nung nagka-lockdown, sobrang worry kami nun kasi siyempre dun ka kumukuha ng pangkain niyo, pang-tuition ng mga bata.”
But determined to start over, they started selling ‘mani’ again online with a capital of P500.
“Nauuso yung online. Gamit ang recipe ng husband ko, binenta namin online yung adobong mani. Tapos nagdagdag na kami ng ibang variant, ”she added.
They also rebranded their peanuts and gave it a new look with a much better packaging.
Advice To Aspiring Entrepreneurs
Josie encouraged other aspiring entrepreneurs to take the first step if they really want to venture into business. In business, you need to be courageous enough to take the risk and face the challenges along the way.
“Sa mga gusto po magnegosyo, huwag mo kayong matakot mag-start. Kung pakiramdam niyo na kaya niyo, gawin niyo, ”she said.

In a deep pan with oil, fry the peanuts. Make sure that peanuts are completely submerged in the oil.
Add in the garlic. Continuously mix the peanuts to ensure that it gets cooked evenly. Fry until golden brown.
Once cooked, strain the peanuts and set aside. Mix in crushed chilis and salt.
